Using your own fat and reinjecting it elsewhere, in another part of the body, for aesthetic purposes? This technique - known as lipomodelling - is back in the news at medical conferences.
Dr Philippe Lazare Sellam, interviewed by Télématin (France 2), explains the advantages of this technique.
The latest studies show that this personal fat can be particularly useful in reconstructive surgery, especially in breast reconstruction after breast cancer, with aesthetic and natural results.
"The major advantage of lipomodelling is that it adds volume to an area, whether cheekbones, breasts or buttocks, not by means of a prosthesis, which freezes the result, but by means of natural tissue, giving a very aesthetic and very natural result", explains Dr Sellam.
