Dr Yaël Berdah and Dr Marc-David Benjoar, plastic surgeons at the Clinique de l'Alma in Paris, have developed a new face and neck lift technique with no visible scars. Called NoVI Lift(No Visible Incision Lift), it avoids pulling the skin in front of the ear, which is responsible for the classic scar in a traditional facelift, and therefore no longer alters the facial features. The entire facelift is performed in depth, passing through the hair. There is no longer any "pulled" appearance.
"This French world first is likely to profoundly change the practice of this surgery and offer patients more natural results. The satisfaction rate among our patients is already excellent", say the two practitioners.
This technique was presented for the first time by Dr Benjoar at the World Congress of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) on 26 October 2016 in Kyoto (Japan). His study was praised in particular by his Asian and American colleagues.
The cervicofacial lift(left) is a surgical rejuvenation technique designed to tighten the skin and muscles of the face. It classically uses a scar passing just in front of the ear, which can be visible by distorting the shape of the ear and pulling the cheek back excessively.
This scar is the stigma of a facelift and discourages many patients.
In the NoVI Lift(right), the skin in front of the ear is respected and the rest of the face is tightened using only scars hidden in the hair (in the temple and behind the ear). The muscles are then tightened under the control of a camera (endoscope).
This technique, which is more complex and meticulous than a traditional facelift, gives patients more natural results, while offering them a significant rejuvenation.
The results of this innovation will shortly be published in the scientific journal Aesthetic Surgery Journal.
